In the daytime, they are only seldom seen, because they hide and avoid the sunlight. But their strength returns once the sun goes down. Then, when an unsuspecting victim wanders too near their haunts, they are able to make their move. They try to be silent, only the slight sound of their flapping wings might give them away. Then they find a vulnerable victim, and withdraw the life-giving blood.
These vampires live in your yard. Mosquitos make life miserable for many who venture beyond the safe confines of their indoor havens. It is when we try to enjoy the wonderful outdoor “rooms” and nature preserves that we have toiled to create in our yards that the insect vampires strike. Mosquitos create pain and discomfort, but they also must be avoided due to the West Nile virus that some are able to transmit.
Fortunately, there are weapons that we can employ to drive them back and kill them. No, not wooden stakes or holy water, but something much more effective. A specifically chosen and applied spray can be used on the plant material at designated areas that are to be protected. This can be a patio area, a play area, or an entire yard. The plant material under 6’ tall is sprayed, but not the turf. Mosquitoes will be killed in these areas for about 3 or 4 weeks. More mosquitos will avoid coming in from beyond the perimeter of the sprayed areas. After about a month the area can be treated again to sustain the relief within the “safe zone” as needed. Even if your yard is like Forks, Washington, or Transylvania, this program will work well. We have the glowing testimonies of many past victims.
So, you won’t need the garlic and crosses but do call your Wachtel Certified Arborist. He/she can assess the problem and design a program that will work for you. Then you can keep your blood for yourself.
