Winter Checkups

Fall 2004 News in Adobe PDF format Our "Winter Property Tours" are free to existing clients. If scheduling permits, we also offer this service to new clients at a nominal fee.

Our “winter property tours” have continued to be very popular. We will once again be offering these comprehensive reviews at no charge to our customers. If you would like to have us come by to evaluate your property, please give us a call.

Winter is an excellent time to inspect for many problems. Much can be determined. In fact, most people are very surprised with what we can tell them in winter. If you were planning to call us on a concern in spring, now might be a better time! In the height of the season it may take us 2–3 weeks to get to some problem requests. Now we have more flexibility and the landscape is pretty much in a state of “suspended animation.” This gives us a wider examining window.

A sampling of things we look for:

  • gypsy moth egg masses
  • sphaeropsis twig blight on pines
  • cytospora canker on spruce
  • pruning needs
  • old storm damage
  • defects in structure (safety of trees)
  • spruce gall adelgids
  • stem and trunk cankers
  • inspecting elms for Dutch elm disease control
  • many other insect and disease problems
  • crown conflicts between trees

We have approximately 100 slots available for these tours on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fact is, winter can be a better time for finding many problems. So if you want a review of your property give us a call by December 31, 2004 to get on our list.
