Our Roots in Tree Care History

Wachtel Tree Science was founded in 1935 by Larry Wachtel and is the oldest tree care company in Wisconsin. Larry recognized the importance of professional organizations and commitment to them very early in his professional career.

Larry was president of the National Arborist Association (now called Tree Care Industry Association) in 1949. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin Arborist Association (WAA). He was also an Honorary Life Member of the WAA and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Wachtel Tree Science was instrumental in the formation and advancement of these national and local professional organizations and continues that commitment to this day. Several members of Wachtel’s current arborist staff have served or continue to serve in a variety of positions at the Wisconsin Arborist Association, the International Society of Arboriculture, and the Tree Care Industry Association.
