This spotlight focuses on one of Wachtel Tree Science’s newest employees, Luke Scheberl. Luke joined our team in May, 2018 following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Forestry and Master’s Degree in Soil Science. Luke’s insight helps us as Arborists see problems below ground that are exhibited as stress in trees above ground. His passion for soil brings a greater depth to our company’s understanding of the trees that we care for and their relationship with the environment they grow in.
Luke is already putting his knowledge and experience to the test. Since his time here he has earned his ISA Arborist certification and has contributed to our Plant Health Care and Consulting Departments. Recently, Luke had the opportunity to present his research findings at the International Society of Arboriculture’s Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio. During the pre-conference training workshop, Luke and his mentor, Dr. Bryant Scharenbroch, taught participants how to assess urban soil quality and highlighted its importance in supporting tree health. Luke also presented his own research, Comparing Field Measurement Methods of Soil pH and Moisture for Use in an Urban Site Assessment, on the ISA Trade Show Floor during the Poster Presentation Component.
Wachtel Tree Science is committed to utilizing the most advanced knowledge to keep your trees healthy. In this regard, we are excited to have Luke bring his passion for urban soils to our team so that we may better serve you!
