If you receive this newsletter, you also likely receive an Annual Tree Care Prescription letter from your Certified Arborist. You may notice a new recommendation in your tree care prescription. This new service is called “Root Biostimulant with Biological Fungicide”.
“Why will a Root Biostimulant with Biological Fungicide help my tree?” – This product mix has a natural blend of macronutrients and micronutrients for optimum tree health. The main ingredient is bacteria that helps plants to activate a natural resistance to various diseases. This also helps increase soil biodiversity for a healthier soil balance. The bacteria may also activate a plant hormone response that causes a “perk up” of growth following the application. Finally, the mix also includes natural soil amendments to encourage root growth.
“What diseases will this treatment protect against?” – The product is primarily labeled to treat root rot diseases and soil borne fungi. These diseases are unfortunately very common in residential soils due to the effects of construction and urban landscaping. These diseases often exist in your soil long before any noticeable symptoms arrive on your trees or shrubs. This treatment can also boost a plant’s natural defense systems. This helps your tree or shrub to be more resistant to additional infections. For example, while the product does not specifically defend against some foliar diseases on its own, it may help the tree to be naturally more resistant to them. An application could be a great addition to treatments you may already be using in your landscape.
“How is this product applied?” – Our “Root Biostimulant with Biological Fungicide” is applied as a liquid soil injection. The arborist uses a soil probe to inject the mix directly into the soil where root density is heaviest. In some cases, the mix may be topically applied to the soil surface and percolate down into the root zone.
“How do I know if my trees are a good candidate for this service?” – That’s what we are here for!
