Having a young tree in your yard can be very exciting. Whether it was planted by you, a contractor, or previous owner, watching a tree grow from a small sapling into a mature specimen is a fulfilling experience. With any young member of the family—pet, child, or your new favorite tree—you want to ensure they are able to grow into healthy adults.
With young trees, our goal is to support that early establishment and help them stay on the right track. Wachtel Tree Science is proud to announce a new service designed to do exactly that. This service is called our Tree Establishment Package.
Whether it’s a brand-new tree or it has already been growing for a few years, out Tree Establishment Package covers multiple services in a single visit in fall to support healthy structure, stability, and growth. The Tree Establishment Package includes the following services:
Heath Assessment – like an annual checkup with your doctor, one of our Certified Arborists will assess the condition of your tree and perform a visual inspection for insect or disease concerns.
Basic Pruning – small trees can greatly benefit from gentle annual pruning in their early years. This helps properly establish and strengthen the main branching structure they will carry for the rest of their lives
Root Biostimulant Application – building a robust network of fine roots is key to long-term health and resilience. Our soil-injected root biostimulants help create a soil environment where roots can thrive.
Maintaining Proper Mulching – tree roots per-form best under a 2-4″ layer of mulch (preferably wood chips). Our arborist will assess the existing mulch layer and make sure we’re maintaining that ideal depth.
Tree Stability – many new plantings require staking for a period of time. However, over-staking can prevent a tree from developing the root strength needed to support itself. We will adjust any staking as-needed to get your tree on the path to reliably staying upright on its own.
If you are interested in enrolling a young tree, or group of trees, in this service, contact Wachtel Tree Science to learn more!
